Dogma Dogs CD

| What if doctrine---had a beat--and you could dance to it? Welcome to the effusive Catholic world of the Dogma Dogs, a cartoon band of dogs who evangelize puppies in the Faith through their music. Intended for kids ages 6-12 (in people years), these songs entertain through teaching and celebrate all things Catholic. The CD covers such topics as church history, the Ten Commandments, and the order of the liturgy. Think "Sunday-Schoolhouse Rock" and you'll have the idea. The lyrics are in accord with the church teaching and use original melodies as well as familiar tunes most children know. The styles range widely, from a square dance about Church Councils, to the "Louie, Louie" garage-band soundalike, "Pharaoh, Pharaoh," to an inexplicably punk version of the 10 Commandments ("as sung by Moses.")
This album contains their first 11 songs -- including one serious and appropriate for Mass, "Hail Mary (Echo)." Illustrations of the Dogs are included on the CD insert, as well as lyrics.
Amy Lewkowicz of Knoxville, TN is the producer and director of this project. "Miss Amy" has been directing music in Catholic churches and playing in praise bands (including the Virginia-based band VISION) for many years. The founder of Liturgical Groove Productions, she is very interested in promoting liturgical and theological education through traditional and non-traditional means. She holds master's degrees in both theology and liturgical music. She is pictured above surrounded by members of the St. John Neumann Children's Choir, who provide background vocals on the album.
Not for use in liturgy, these songs are great for Vacation Bible School, CCD, or just listening and dancing around the living room.
This CD is endorsed by Bishop Joseph Kurtz, who remarked, "Now I know the 21 ecumenical councils in order!"
It's easy on parental nerves and has dance motions. A great bet and a fun gift.
(Note: The Nelson Kids love this cd and regularly turn the living room into a dance floor while jamming to this music. Pharoah, Pharoah,…..)
